Flashlight Essentials for Camping and Fishing

Posted by admin - September 30th, 2009

You may need to buy more than one type of flashlight for fishing and camping, but no matter what you buy there are several factors to consider.  Camping flashlights should be corrosive resistant and sturdy enough to survive a drop to the ground.  You may wish to look for one with an adjustable beam that can be converted to a lantern or freestanding candle. Flashlights that don’t need batteries can be a good choice for one light source.  It is probably not a good idea to rely exclusively on these, however, because they usually lack the focused beam and intensity you may need in some situations.  For fishing, you should have at least one waterproof light on a boat that will float for a few seconds and still work after it is dropped in the water.

One flashlight that is essential for any outdoor trip should be compact, waterproof, able to fit in your pocket, and have a small enough barrel that you can hold it between your teeth.  You might also wish to look for a flashlight with a rubberized or textured grip so it is slip resistant.  You should keep this with you at all times.  The right choice of flashlight for fishing and camping can make a trip safer and ensure that you are ready for many situations.
