When camping, everyone know the importance of the essentials. But what if you’re looking to expand your camping experience? There is no shortage of luxury, or non-essential, equipment available to you. Tents and bedding are often the most rewarding source. Instead of cramming several people into one discount tent, imagine sleeping comfortably in a multi-room tent fit for several people. This is ideal for extended trips.

Of course, what good is a tent if what you’re sleeping on isn’t comfortable? You could choose a standard sleeping bag, or you could go the extra mile and purchase an air mattress. These come very close to the comfort of a traditional mattress, and can be de-inflated and used repeatedly.

A big concern for campers is the weather. If it’s cold, typically you’ll bundle up in clothes and huddle around a fire. Or you could stay in the comfort of your tent, warmed by propane-powered heater designed for indoor use. Camping is dirty business, so you could also consider buying a solar-heated portable shower. And if nature hikes aren’t your thing, bring along an mp3 player or portable DVD player. With all that’s available these days, there’s no need to suffer when camping.

The odd Catamaran dates back to the 15th century, where the first recorded history of it was in 1697, in the southeastern coast of India. He described it as “two light logs, that carry but one man, whose legs are always in the water.” This odd contraption sparked the interest of this particular Englishmen, but more widespread interest would not be prevalent until nearly 200 years later.

American Nathanael Herreshoff developed his own version of the Catamaran in 1877, his new boats showed increased performance and better sailing quality than any that had come before him. After winning several races, the boat was banned from racing until the 1970’s. This type of boat remained largely unpopular, being considered, largely a novelty boat. It wasn’t until the late 1950’s that the boat became more seriously looked at, and valued for it’s ease of use and stability. The mid 20th century became a boon for these boats, as they became extremely popular for their own specific brand of racing, gaining in popularity until they reached their present state today. They continue, however, to be more popular in Europe than they do in the United States of America. And for the future of Catamarans? Only time can tell.

Choosing a tent that’s perfect for your camping needs is important. Tents come in all sizes, shapes and colors. There is no one tent that’s perfect for everyone. It all depends on where you’re camping, how much camping gear you’re bringing and what you want to get out of your camping experience.

For those who are camping for a long time, are camping with family or have a lot of camping or fishing gear, they’ll likely want to get a large tent. There are tents so large you can actually fit several cots in them as well as all of your gear. These tents are perfect for a large gathering and for housing numerous people. However, they can be cumbersome to get around.

Some people like a more intimate rustic feeling when they’re camping. Those types of people would likely want a smaller tent. Tents can come as small as pup tents, which only have room for one person in a sleeping bag. This is prefect for the camper who wants to travel light and have a more organic camping experience.

In early days, camping was done primitive style. Actually, we can say human abode was a camping site all the time as history tells us that humans would settle in an area temporarily and will create temporary shelter and then move on again to a different site where food supplies will be better.

Then humans started to really settle in one place once they have learned to cultivate and recycle their food supplies in one area, At times, they will send individual to different areas for hunting hence a need to camp for the night or a few nights before going to their permanent settlements.

After all became more civilized, camping evolved into a recreational activity more than a necessity. It has become an unwinding experience to a lot people and when you say let’s go camping, one can imagine an enjoyable experience in some wilderness or to many nowadays, a beautiful camping park full of nature and leisure activities.

Nowadays, camping sites have become even technological what with the use of RVs which are full of modern amenities and makes you feel you have a home wherever you are. Some even have camp venues full of modern cottages complete with modern facilities like tv, telephones and even internet access right in the middle of a jungle. Surprising but camping has grown with the times!

Imagine getting lost while you went out camping and you just have a pocket knife. This could be your ultimate guide to survival in that wilderness. Yes that is right. Just keep walking till you reach a bee hive. Go ahead and make a fire of dried leaves, using stones. Now after the bees are gone use your knife to cut out the hive. Honey doesn’t go bad ever. They are a great source of protein and nutrition. It could be given to you strength you need to survive till you find a rescue. Many a men have known to have lived and survived on honey in the wilderness.

Knife would also come in handy if you need to cut things when you are lost. You might have to cut wilderness to make way for yourself. You might also need to cut a berry from a tree or a branch. If you are close to some heating source then you might like to use your knife to hunt down some small animal and then use it for roasting using conventional cooking style of making fire by using stones.

If you are planning to go camping, ensure that you plan it well. If you are in a group then it is better and safe for you. Before embarking on your trip take care to include all the necessary items in your backpack. Essential items to be carried are a tent, sleeping bag, food, first-aid, torch and a mobile phone to contact people. Always paste the route you are planning to take and your destination on your refrigerator. This ensures that if you go missing, your family has some starting point to search for you.

You should also check with the ranger in the area where you are camping. If you are going in a group there are less chances of getting lost and being injured. Ensure that you have a durable tent with you. It is wise to invest money in a good quality tent as it is the only protection you will get in the faraway place where you have gone. Your tent should be sturdy enough to provide shelter against rain, cold wind and other such elements. Ensure to buy a good quality tent from a reputed brand which has been used by others.

Pocket knives are incredibly handy to have around. They can help in a variety of different situations around the home. Lots of folks only consider them to be camping tools. While it is true that they are invaluable on the camping front that’s not the only thing they’re good for. They’re good for many things around the house, such as opening mail, removing staples from documents and opening packages. They’re excellent for cutting up cardboard boxes before you dispose of them.

They’re also great for some home maintenance on the exterior of your home. For example, a pocket knife can be used to repair handles on wooden household tools (like shovels and rakes) to prevent them from causing splinters. They are also great for cleaning out dirty cracks and recesses your home may have that are difficult to get into. Scarping away rust, paint, glue, or labels and adhesives is a breeze if you have a good quality pocket knife on hand. Their uses are really endless and can easily make your life better every single day.

There are so many knives to choose from in the camping market, how do you choose which knife? Do you go with the small 1 or 2 inch blade for its small compact size? Do you go with a multi purpose tool that has various knife blades? Or what if you buy the larger 6 inch blade with a serrated edge? All of these questions are reasonable to ask when one is deciding on what kind of knife to buy.

The real answer is that the choice depends on your life style and what you would find yourself using the knife mostly for. For example, if you are going to need for quick little repairs, tightening screws, or eating food, you would most likely want to buy a multi-purpose tool. These knives have many features to them besides the knife. These extra features will come in hand on long camping trips. Maybe you plan on using your knife only for cutting up sticks to make a fire. Then the 6 inch knife with the serrated edge would be a better choice to effective cut through the logs. Again, there are many kinds of knives out there. The one you should buy depends on what you would be using the knife mainly for.
