Posted by admin - May 26th, 2009

Before going for a camp I always remember to carry a water filter. You never know what the water conditions can be either good or bad. To be on the safer side it is advisable to carry a water filter. When I say water filter, it doesn’t mean that you should carry those huge water filters that are very heavy. You should carry a portable water filter. I carry a portable water filter as it is easy to carry and use

In fact this is my favorite water filter. It is economically feasible as well. In this way I take good care of my health as well. This unique portable water filter also known as outdoor water filter purifies 99% percent of the bacteria thus giving me safe drinking water. Besides this it removes the disgusting taste of the water to give me tasty water. Even my friends also use this outdoor water filter due to the good benefits.

Use a Thermos to keep liquids warm

Posted by admin - May 25th, 2009

There are various things required in your gear when you embark on a nature trip. Ranging from tents, sleeping bags to food, everything is thought out and carried along. One item often neglected is a thermos to keep liquids warm during the trip. This is especially true if you are planning a trip during cooler climes and wish to keep warm on your trip.

I remember during one of my family trip with my parents we had surprised my dad by presenting him with warm coffee. He never expected it and was surprised and pleased and our simple steel based thermos had stored about five cups of coffee and kept it sizzling hot. Those who go camping are best advised to carry a thermos filled with hot or cold liquids as per their need. You never know when the weather changes bringing sudden rains and a dip in temperature. If you are out in the open during such weather, your thermos can become your life saver and keep you from freezing.

Camping Misadventures: We Forgot the Tent!

Posted by admin - May 3rd, 2009

What if you went on a camping trip and forgot the most important piece of gear?  The tent!   I don’t know how it happened.  My hubby packed the van and we headed to the shore, where we had a campsite near the water.  It was a seven-hour drive, and we were ready for this vacation.  My husband even replaced our old camping gear, since most of it had been hand-me-downs or yard sale bargains.

We got to the campsite in the evening and were starving, so we decided to grab something to eat before putting up the tent.  But an hour later, we realized the tent was missing.   The new propane stove was there, the camp chairs were there, and so were the sleeping bags, the lanterns, the binoculars and even the telescope.  But no tent.  My husband realized that he had left it sitting in the garage!

It was too far to go home to retrieve it, so we did the only thing that seemed reasonable, at the time.  We drove to the next town and found a motel that had available rooms, and spent out vacation camping by the side of their pool.  We left the stove, lanterns and camp chairs in the car, but my hubby enjoyed using the binoculars to examine some of the wildlife lounging by the pool!
