There are so many knives to choose from in the camping market, how do you choose which knife? Do you go with the small 1 or 2 inch blade for its small compact size? Do you go with a multi purpose tool that has various knife blades? Or what if you buy the larger 6 inch blade with a serrated edge? All of these questions are reasonable to ask when one is deciding on what kind of knife to buy.
The real answer is that the choice depends on your life style and what you would find yourself using the knife mostly for. For example, if you are going to need for quick little repairs, tightening screws, or eating food, you would most likely want to buy a multi-purpose tool. These knives have many features to them besides the knife. These extra features will come in hand on long camping trips. Maybe you plan on using your knife only for cutting up sticks to make a fire. Then the 6 inch knife with the serrated edge would be a better choice to effective cut through the logs. Again, there are many kinds of knives out there. The one you should buy depends on what you would be using the knife mainly for.

Expert campers and outdoorsmen already know what an all weather tent is – most of them probably own one or two themselves. But the beginning camper might not know how to go about choosing the right tent – if an all weather tent isn’t necessary for their camping needs, they don’t have to spend the extra money. But it is important for beginners to know the differences the different types of tents, so they can pick the right one for their camping trip.
A good all weather tent is one that will protect you from all of the elements – cold weather, excessively hot weather, rain, sleet, snow – yes, believe it or not, some serious campers do pitch their tents in snowy climates or conditions! But many campers spend their time in the wild during the warmer months of the year, and try to avoid taking trips during the rainy seasons. If this is you, then you can probably stick with a more inexpensive tent. You will still have protection from any rain, though you’ll probably have to pack up your things if it starts to snow.

Finding high quality pocket knives can be a real hassle today – with so many infomercials, advertisements and even door-to-door salesman literally shoving knives in your face, how do you know that you are getting the quality that you need? After all, in a survival situation a pocket knife can mean the difference between life and death; you’ll want to make sure you have a dependable knife handy at all times.
First of all, you will want to avoid dollar stores, grocery stores or any other sort of discount retailer that sell pocket knives; these are priced so cheaply for a reason – they are cheap. The best choice to find a quality pocket knife is either a sporting goods store or a shop that specializes in hunting, fishing or even military surplus. If you are having troubles finding one of these stores in your area, you can always check the sporting goods section of your local retail store. While this should be a last choice, many do have high quality pocket knives available at an affordable price.

One of the most important tools you can bring along on a camping trip
is a flashlight, any veteran camper knows this. But with so many
different options available as far as flashlights are concerned, how
do you make sure you are getting the right one? Well, there are a
number of factors to consider when shopping for a flashlight,
depending on your tastes, your budget and of course your intended use.
For that once a year camping trip, a small, plastic flashlight that is
battery powered is sufficient. If you are an avid camper or
outdoorsman, however, you will want to consider something a little
more durable. If you really spend a lot of time camping, you may also
want to consider a hand crank flashlight or even a flashlight that
includes its own miniature solar panels for recharging. This can save
you quite a bit of money over the course of many trips throughout the
years. Often times these types of flashlights also include an AM radio
and an emergency siren of some kind.

The definition of hiking would be something like “a form of walking, started for a purpose of burning calories and to enjoy nice scenery.” Now That would be a definition that you might read somewhere in a dictionary or something. But what hiking really is, is a way for a person to go out and enjoy this beautiful earth we live on. It is a natural feeling for a human to want to see something that they are not used to seeing on a day to day basis and thats what happens while hiking.
There are other reasons to hike. One might be that they is a great looking waterfall at the top of a hill on the side of a mountain so you want to hike up there to see the water fall. Or someone might want to just go work out but they also want to be out in the wilderness.
Now I love hiking and I personally go for different reasons. The main reason I go hiking is to see the beautiful scenery and to take pictures of it. This is what many other people do so that they can capture the moment that they are in. Hiking is known as something that a very lot of people enjoy doing.

While going for a camp it is important to carry a camping tent along with you. The type of tent to carry depends upon the type of place you have chosen to camp and the expected weather of the place. Before going for a camp it is important that you collect the details of the weather of the region. If the weather is extremely cold then the 4 season tent should be used, the three seasons tent can be used under all weather conditions except extremely cold weather.
A smaller tent can be carried if it is for only two people. If you are to accommodate your family then a bigger tent is required. It is also important to select a tent that is light in weight and easy to setup. Setting up the right kind of tent is very important to make the camping expedition enjoyable. A good tent should also have proper ventilation. A well ventilated tent will have openings on all its corners. There are also water resistant camping tents available in the market which you can opt for during rainy seasons.

Of course, there are all the basic camping items to be found at the camping supply store, but how about some more specialty stuff that not all campers have. If you camp where there is a bathhouse, you might want to purchase a wooden slatted mat to stand on in the shower to avoid stepping on the floor where all the other campers have stood before you.
If you camp in your own RV trailer that has its own bathroom, you might want to purchase some sewer supplies such as a portable tank to allow you to empty your black water tank without uprooting your whole campsite and taking the trailer to the dump station. Toilet paper that disintegrates quickly and entirely is a helpful item to have as well.
After your first few camping trips, you’ll either think of things you simply must have to make life at camp easier or you’ll see things that other campers are enjoying. Any and all of these items can usually be found at a camping supply store along with many other things you’ve probably not even imagined as well.
