When camping, everyone know the importance of the essentials. But what if you’re looking to expand your camping experience? There is no shortage of luxury, or non-essential, equipment available to you. Tents and bedding are often the most rewarding source. Instead of cramming several people into one discount tent, imagine sleeping comfortably in a multi-room tent fit for several people. This is ideal for extended trips.
Of course, what good is a tent if what you’re sleeping on isn’t comfortable? You could choose a standard sleeping bag, or you could go the extra mile and purchase an air mattress. These come very close to the comfort of a traditional mattress, and can be de-inflated and used repeatedly.
A big concern for campers is the weather. If it’s cold, typically you’ll bundle up in clothes and huddle around a fire. Or you could stay in the comfort of your tent, warmed by propane-powered heater designed for indoor use. Camping is dirty business, so you could also consider buying a solar-heated portable shower. And if nature hikes aren’t your thing, bring along an mp3 player or portable DVD player. With all that’s available these days, there’s no need to suffer when camping.

The odd Catamaran dates back to the 15th century, where the first recorded history of it was in 1697, in the southeastern coast of India. He described it as “two light logs, that carry but one man, whose legs are always in the water.” This odd contraption sparked the interest of this particular Englishmen, but more widespread interest would not be prevalent until nearly 200 years later.
American Nathanael Herreshoff developed his own version of the Catamaran in 1877, his new boats showed increased performance and better sailing quality than any that had come before him. After winning several races, the boat was banned from racing until the 1970’s. This type of boat remained largely unpopular, being considered, largely a novelty boat. It wasn’t until the late 1950’s that the boat became more seriously looked at, and valued for it’s ease of use and stability. The mid 20th century became a boon for these boats, as they became extremely popular for their own specific brand of racing, gaining in popularity until they reached their present state today. They continue, however, to be more popular in Europe than they do in the United States of America. And for the future of Catamarans? Only time can tell.

Choosing a tent that’s perfect for your camping needs is important. Tents come in all sizes, shapes and colors. There is no one tent that’s perfect for everyone. It all depends on where you’re camping, how much camping gear you’re bringing and what you want to get out of your camping experience.
For those who are camping for a long time, are camping with family or have a lot of camping or fishing gear, they’ll likely want to get a large tent. There are tents so large you can actually fit several cots in them as well as all of your gear. These tents are perfect for a large gathering and for housing numerous people. However, they can be cumbersome to get around.
Some people like a more intimate rustic feeling when they’re camping. Those types of people would likely want a smaller tent. Tents can come as small as pup tents, which only have room for one person in a sleeping bag. This is prefect for the camper who wants to travel light and have a more organic camping experience.

In early days, camping was done primitive style. Actually, we can say human abode was a camping site all the time as history tells us that humans would settle in an area temporarily and will create temporary shelter and then move on again to a different site where food supplies will be better.
Then humans started to really settle in one place once they have learned to cultivate and recycle their food supplies in one area, At times, they will send individual to different areas for hunting hence a need to camp for the night or a few nights before going to their permanent settlements.
After all became more civilized, camping evolved into a recreational activity more than a necessity. It has become an unwinding experience to a lot people and when you say let’s go camping, one can imagine an enjoyable experience in some wilderness or to many nowadays, a beautiful camping park full of nature and leisure activities.
Nowadays, camping sites have become even technological what with the use of RVs which are full of modern amenities and makes you feel you have a home wherever you are. Some even have camp venues full of modern cottages complete with modern facilities like tv, telephones and even internet access right in the middle of a jungle. Surprising but camping has grown with the times!

If you are planning to go camping, ensure that you plan it well. If you are in a group then it is better and safe for you. Before embarking on your trip take care to include all the necessary items in your backpack. Essential items to be carried are a tent, sleeping bag, food, first-aid, torch and a mobile phone to contact people. Always paste the route you are planning to take and your destination on your refrigerator. This ensures that if you go missing, your family has some starting point to search for you.
You should also check with the ranger in the area where you are camping. If you are going in a group there are less chances of getting lost and being injured. Ensure that you have a durable tent with you. It is wise to invest money in a good quality tent as it is the only protection you will get in the faraway place where you have gone. Your tent should be sturdy enough to provide shelter against rain, cold wind and other such elements. Ensure to buy a good quality tent from a reputed brand which has been used by others.

Pocket knives are incredibly handy to have around. They can help in a variety of different situations around the home. Lots of folks only consider them to be camping tools. While it is true that they are invaluable on the camping front that’s not the only thing they’re good for. They’re good for many things around the house, such as opening mail, removing staples from documents and opening packages. They’re excellent for cutting up cardboard boxes before you dispose of them.
They’re also great for some home maintenance on the exterior of your home. For example, a pocket knife can be used to repair handles on wooden household tools (like shovels and rakes) to prevent them from causing splinters. They are also great for cleaning out dirty cracks and recesses your home may have that are difficult to get into. Scarping away rust, paint, glue, or labels and adhesives is a breeze if you have a good quality pocket knife on hand. Their uses are really endless and can easily make your life better every single day.

There are so many knives to choose from in the camping market, how do you choose which knife? Do you go with the small 1 or 2 inch blade for its small compact size? Do you go with a multi purpose tool that has various knife blades? Or what if you buy the larger 6 inch blade with a serrated edge? All of these questions are reasonable to ask when one is deciding on what kind of knife to buy.
The real answer is that the choice depends on your life style and what you would find yourself using the knife mostly for. For example, if you are going to need for quick little repairs, tightening screws, or eating food, you would most likely want to buy a multi-purpose tool. These knives have many features to them besides the knife. These extra features will come in hand on long camping trips. Maybe you plan on using your knife only for cutting up sticks to make a fire. Then the 6 inch knife with the serrated edge would be a better choice to effective cut through the logs. Again, there are many kinds of knives out there. The one you should buy depends on what you would be using the knife mainly for.

Expert campers and outdoorsmen already know what an all weather tent is – most of them probably own one or two themselves. But the beginning camper might not know how to go about choosing the right tent – if an all weather tent isn’t necessary for their camping needs, they don’t have to spend the extra money. But it is important for beginners to know the differences the different types of tents, so they can pick the right one for their camping trip.
A good all weather tent is one that will protect you from all of the elements – cold weather, excessively hot weather, rain, sleet, snow – yes, believe it or not, some serious campers do pitch their tents in snowy climates or conditions! But many campers spend their time in the wild during the warmer months of the year, and try to avoid taking trips during the rainy seasons. If this is you, then you can probably stick with a more inexpensive tent. You will still have protection from any rain, though you’ll probably have to pack up your things if it starts to snow.

Finding high quality pocket knives can be a real hassle today – with so many infomercials, advertisements and even door-to-door salesman literally shoving knives in your face, how do you know that you are getting the quality that you need? After all, in a survival situation a pocket knife can mean the difference between life and death; you’ll want to make sure you have a dependable knife handy at all times.
First of all, you will want to avoid dollar stores, grocery stores or any other sort of discount retailer that sell pocket knives; these are priced so cheaply for a reason – they are cheap. The best choice to find a quality pocket knife is either a sporting goods store or a shop that specializes in hunting, fishing or even military surplus. If you are having troubles finding one of these stores in your area, you can always check the sporting goods section of your local retail store. While this should be a last choice, many do have high quality pocket knives available at an affordable price.

One of the most important tools you can bring along on a camping trip
is a flashlight, any veteran camper knows this. But with so many
different options available as far as flashlights are concerned, how
do you make sure you are getting the right one? Well, there are a
number of factors to consider when shopping for a flashlight,
depending on your tastes, your budget and of course your intended use.
For that once a year camping trip, a small, plastic flashlight that is
battery powered is sufficient. If you are an avid camper or
outdoorsman, however, you will want to consider something a little
more durable. If you really spend a lot of time camping, you may also
want to consider a hand crank flashlight or even a flashlight that
includes its own miniature solar panels for recharging. This can save
you quite a bit of money over the course of many trips throughout the
years. Often times these types of flashlights also include an AM radio
and an emergency siren of some kind.

The definition of hiking would be something like “a form of walking, started for a purpose of burning calories and to enjoy nice scenery.” Now That would be a definition that you might read somewhere in a dictionary or something. But what hiking really is, is a way for a person to go out and enjoy this beautiful earth we live on. It is a natural feeling for a human to want to see something that they are not used to seeing on a day to day basis and thats what happens while hiking.
There are other reasons to hike. One might be that they is a great looking waterfall at the top of a hill on the side of a mountain so you want to hike up there to see the water fall. Or someone might want to just go work out but they also want to be out in the wilderness.
Now I love hiking and I personally go for different reasons. The main reason I go hiking is to see the beautiful scenery and to take pictures of it. This is what many other people do so that they can capture the moment that they are in. Hiking is known as something that a very lot of people enjoy doing.

While going for a camp it is important to carry a camping tent along with you. The type of tent to carry depends upon the type of place you have chosen to camp and the expected weather of the place. Before going for a camp it is important that you collect the details of the weather of the region. If the weather is extremely cold then the 4 season tent should be used, the three seasons tent can be used under all weather conditions except extremely cold weather.
A smaller tent can be carried if it is for only two people. If you are to accommodate your family then a bigger tent is required. It is also important to select a tent that is light in weight and easy to setup. Setting up the right kind of tent is very important to make the camping expedition enjoyable. A good tent should also have proper ventilation. A well ventilated tent will have openings on all its corners. There are also water resistant camping tents available in the market which you can opt for during rainy seasons.

Of course, there are all the basic camping items to be found at the camping supply store, but how about some more specialty stuff that not all campers have. If you camp where there is a bathhouse, you might want to purchase a wooden slatted mat to stand on in the shower to avoid stepping on the floor where all the other campers have stood before you.
If you camp in your own RV trailer that has its own bathroom, you might want to purchase some sewer supplies such as a portable tank to allow you to empty your black water tank without uprooting your whole campsite and taking the trailer to the dump station. Toilet paper that disintegrates quickly and entirely is a helpful item to have as well.
After your first few camping trips, you’ll either think of things you simply must have to make life at camp easier or you’ll see things that other campers are enjoying. Any and all of these items can usually be found at a camping supply store along with many other things you’ve probably not even imagined as well.

When taking a hike there are certain factors of your footwear you should take into account. First and foremost, make sure your boots actually feet your feet! If the back of your heel rises when walking it is likely that the boot is too big. Hiking boots that are too big could lead to blisters, inability to move appropriately and possibly even a broken ankle.
Having a pair of boots that feet your feet may seem like common sense but sometimes just walking around in a pair of boots can be quite misleading. While wearing your boots and prior to your hiking trip mimic certain movements that you will be making while actually hiking; doing this will allow you to make sure that your footwear is appropriate for the activities you will be engaging in.
Also, make sure that your boots provide an adequate amount of support for your ankle. Ankle support is quintessential and the right boot will help to alleviate the pressure placed on the ankles when you are actively hiking. Making sure your footwear is appropriate for hiking will make your hike more enjoyable and will leave you with happy, blister free feet.

The quality of your sleeping bag and ground pad is going to make the difference between hardly being able to get up because of soreness and having the good feeling of a great night’s sleep, particularly if you are above the age of forty.
Backpackers must consider weight as well as quality. Down bags are very light, although they are no good when a sudden rainstorm hits—the down loses all its insulating qualities. There are some man-made materials that are almost as light as down and better when you have bad weather. There are also ground pads that are ultra light and still will give you a comfortable night’s sleep.
If you are in an RV you have a mattress. In a tent, car camping, you might consider getting a cot. Or there are many different kinds of ground pads to look into. A lot of them are self-inflating and roll up into a small roll the next morning. As to sleeping bags, you can get a double bag if you are camping with your sweet heart. There are kid-sized bags for children, as well. The critical thing to consider is the temperature you will be experiencing and get a bag that will keep you warm. There are few things worse than feeling so cold you can’t sleep.

Where you set out the picnic can have an effect on how much you enjoy the day. You want a place where you can spread out and everyone can enjoy themselves, but the first open spot might not be the optimal location. Two important factors to consider are the time of day and the surroundings.
If you are picnicking at lunchtime, spreading the blanket out in the direct sun is probably not the way to go. Even on a day when blistering heat is not an issue, there is always the danger of sunburn which is a fast way to spoil an afternoon. Regardless of where you picnic, putting on sunscreen is a good idea, but setting out the blanket under the shade of a tree is a good idea.
Watching what kind of tree you are sitting under is also important, though. If picnicking in the fall, it might be amusing the first few times a leaf or acorn falls on you, but after a while it gets old. Also, knowing the location of the nearby streams and ponds can help you select a location where mosquitoes and other biting insects do not disrupt your entire day. Taking some care with the spot you pick can help make a picnic much more enjoyable.

When planning an outdoor activity the fear of someone wondering off and getting lost is usually in the back of the mind. One may think that it can be easily overcome by just keeping watch over individuals. This is not always the most piratical approach. By practicing some simple techniques your next outdoor activity can be worry free.
The first thing to do when in an unfamiliar outdoor setting is the become acquainted with surrounding landmarks. These will prove to be vital tools when attempting to locate the point of origin. Knowing the area by map will go hand in hand with landmarks as well as alerting others that you intend to leave the site and generally where you are headed. This way if you do happen to lose your way, search teams have a general direction in which to start.
In you do find yourself lost in the outdoors, remembering a few simple steps may save you. First off, do not panic. Take a minute to relax and check your map or compass to get your bearings. If you find that you are still disoriented you need to stay where you are and not wonder off. In time, individuals will realize you have not returned and will et out to find you.

So you’ve decided to take up hiking, picked up gear, and are getting ready to go. What should you wear? Hopefully you’ve picked up and broken in a good pair of hiking boots over the past few weeks. Even if you don’t intend to hike seriously, boots provide better ankle support and traction when on the trail than any other footwear.
Inside the boots, you should be wearing socks that are warm, comfortable, and don’t retain moisture. Cotton is not a good choice, and while many hiking socks are made of wool, depending on the time of year synthetics might work better. Also, put an extra pair in of socks in your backpack.
Like socks, clothing should not be cotton. While it might seem light and comfortable, it tends to pick up and hold water—sweat included—which greatly reduces its comfort and on a cool day can lead to chills. Most shops that carry hiking gear have a wide selection of clothing to choose from.
Taking a jacket along, even in warm weather, is a good idea. If possible, find one with vents or made of material that allows the skin to breathe. In the event of a rain shower or the discovery that the air is a little chillier at your destination than expected, this will help you to stay comfortable.

It is fun to go camping and there are ways to make your camping experience more enjoyable. It is a good idea to bring games from home that can be played by all campers. Examples of these types of games would be with cards or the classic “I spy.” Some other games that can be played are games such as tossing a frisbee, playing tag and twenty questions.
You can also plan a nature scavenger hunt. Make a list of things that deal with nature like animals and plants and the person that comes up with the most items on the list gets a prize. Crafts are also great to make your camping trip fun. There can be art activities with paints. One fun activity is to give each camper a rock and have the camper decorate it. Just make sure that you have the materials handy to do the decorations such as glue and wiggly eyes and felt to give the rock a personality. There are more ways to make camping fun and these are some of those ways.

My friend and I took a camping trip last year and had a wonderful experience. Since it was our first time camping-out on our own we had to purchase camping equipment. After a lot of research, we found the perfect tent. While you do not spend much time in the tent, you need to make sure the tent you buy is worth the money you spend. First, make sure that your tent is not too heavy and can fit in your vehicle. I think it is best to buy a four person tent, even if there are only two of you going. This allows for more room not only for you, but some of your other camping accessories.
It is important to purchase a tent with durable features. I would suggest buying a tent that has aluminum poles, they tend to last longer. You want to be sure your tent has double stitching and folded seems. You do not want to be soaked if it rains! It is a good idea to find a tent with a roof vent, because if there is no air flow then condensation will build up in your tent. Lastly, make sure the tent is equipped with hardwearing zippers. This will ensure that the bugs do not get in!

If you look into the backpack of any serious camper you will see either a spool of rope or a bundle of bungee cords – and in some cases, both. But what material works better when securing tents, tarps and other material around the campsite? The answer is – both! Rope has many great uses, as do bungee cords. Though some certainly perform better than the other when it comes to certain situations – this is why often times you will want to be equipped with both.
For example, either one will work great at securing extra gear to your hiking backpack. When it comes to securing tents say, over your tent for protection, ropes tend to work a little better. Bungee cords will flex and move, while a rope will allow you to measure and cut it to exact proportions. Bungees come in all shapes and sizes which can be easy to pack away, whereas rope is usually found in large, bulky spools that will take up more space in your pack. No matter which one you choose, you really can’t go wrong.

For many who venture out into the wild, a great debate has been brewing over the use of electronic navigation equipment. Many hardcore outdoors people swear by the compass and map and shun those who use electronic navigation equipment to get around the wilderness. For many people who do not have a lot of experience in navigating the outdoors, or those who have a generally poor sense of direction, an electronic navigation aid can be a great way to ensure that your camping adventure doesn’t turn into a camping nightmare.
Many global positioning system receivers come equipped today with topographical and other outdoor data that can be of great use to the novice and experienced explorer who wants to venture into nature without the risk of venturing too far away from the campsite. GPS technology allows a person to pinpoint sites they may want to venture to, as well as their place of camping, to ease the need to navigate too blindly around an area. Many people will use GPS as a great way to find new sites around them as well, enhancing the use of this technology to get around the great outdoors.

Regardless of what country in the world you live or travel in, the outdoors is a major attraction for many individuals that have different, yet related, likes…such as camping, hunting, fishing, or picnics. Well, to ensure that you’re going to get the most out of your excursion you’ll want to have the best, most efficient, practical, and durable equipment, gear, and supplies. This include anything from floor and truck tents, lanterns, camping apparel, and knives, to kayaks, picnic baskets and blankets, and screen rooms.
Now, you can simply grab the first tent or equipment you run into, but you may have your outdoor weekend ruined if you don’t have the “right tool for the right job”. You don’t want a perfectly planned out hunting trip go to waste if the knife you’re using or the truck tent you’re sleeping in can’t withstand the rigors that an outside environment in the forest or woods can bring.
So, if you’re a “winner of the route”, or as in spanish, “ganadores de la ruta”, that has your telecommunications down pat (”que tienes tus medios de telecommunicaciones en funcion con sus celulares”), then the right camping equipment, gear, and tents along with las telecommunicaciones is your next natural step in planning out the greatest fishing or picnic you’ve been on!
